I have always wanted to do a Trefoil image and finally got round to producing one. The elements in the image were very straighforward but I put a lot of effort into the overall composition. Lovely.

> Includes
No includes were required for this image. This was done on purpose - I wanted to make the image as simple as possible using standard functions.
> Textures
The textures were pretty much the same for all the objects. A simple color pigment with a reflective finish - nothing more complicated than that!
> Objects
The easy objects first, a plane and a sphere. The main object in the scene is the Trefoil. This was created using a sphere sweep around a cubic spline. A loop was used to generate the centre points for the spheres.
> Scene
For this scene to work, the composition was crucial. The scene was lit using a single spotlight. I wanted to show the full splendor of the Trefoil but also the shadows cast and the nice reflections in the ground plane. This meant careful positioning of the spotlight and the camera - took a while but worth it. The sphere was an afterthought but gives the feeling of being trapped - no escape.
